Members of the National Policy and Advocacy Council on Homelessness held a public informational meeting this week to discuss ways to help Daltons homeless.
"The reason they were here is one of their employees is from Dalton, and hes very familiar with our issues," said Kimberly Johnson, spokesperson for the city.
Dalton will receive $487,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on July 1, and the advocacy group has agreed to help the city find ways to make the best use of the funds, Ms. Johnson said. The advocacy group is dedicated to ending homelessness through partnerships with anti-poverty organizations.
